Korean Studies Program

The Korean Studies program at SDSU started in the fall of 2008 within the department of Linguistics and Asian/Middle Eastern Languages) with the mission of serving the needs of the greater San Diego Community and responding to the interests of SDSU students of both Korean and non-Korean backgrounds. Our goal is to build a comprehensive program that includes both language and culture courses. The program offers three levels of language course (Elementary, Intermediate, & Advanced Korean) and two culture & history courses (Korean Civilization and Contemporary Korean Culture through Media).  All Korean courses are integrated into several interdisciplinary programs at SDSU (e.g., International Business, Center for Asian Pacific Studies).

The program also offers Korean Studies Certificate that provides students with a high proficiency in the Korean language and a foundational understanding of Korean culture and history.

Our curriculum is growing and we regularly plan cultural events.  Please check back for updates.  Your comments are also welcome.
